IMPLANT HEALTH

Implants for Life

The Implant Health initiative is intended to create awareness towards the importance of dental implant maintenance. Similar to a natural tooth, lack of proper hygiene can lead to plaque-forming bacteria build up on the base of dental implants, eventually resulting in an inflammation of the surrounding soft- and hard-tissue known as peri-implant mucositis at its early stages, or peri-implantitis if condition not treated for prolonged time. Contrarily to dental maintenance, there is not enough guidance supportive of adequate implant maintenance or treatment of related complications.

The key challenge of this project was to analyze commonalities between successful approaches followed by different experts, define a simple to understand and effective methodology for implant maintenance,  and gain key opinion leader support. Once on-boarded, we scanned the market for possible solutions at each step of the process and created a gap analysis to embark in research collaborations for missing options. Once this second phase was completed we entered in negotiations for product distribution or product development, ultimately requiring direct approval from the managing board.

As key contributions to this project, together with a product manager,  I provided with strategic analysis from customers insights and technical knowledge in biofilm formation and removal, to develop a consensus methodology. Further, and in depth analysis to understand available and missing products in the market, and stakeholder management to influence decision making towards collaboration set up and negotiations. On a more operational side, I liaised between procurement and different partners to ensure product availability at launch.
